This is in honor and respect to the Whitfield Family, who has endured a lot of pain and disrespect in the last few days. We would like to let them know that we are with them, along with the rest of Lorain, Ohio. For the first time in a while, we stood together as a mass and supported one another. Instead of remembering one’s positive life of laughter, jokes, and love, newspaper articles have chosen to focus on only the negatives of one’s short lived life. Briefly knowing Mario, I knew he was a good man who was loved and respected by all of his peers. It’s about time our community stands up for one another, and stops taking being engulfed in the nonsense of violence and abuse. Our city has endured grief over the losses of innocent lives throughout this whole year. Our city has also felt restlessness as we have been affected by the gun violence and crime of recent months. With “Stop the Violent” marches, the residents of Lorain are sending a message to everyone. Through these rough times its time for a change! We dedicate this song, “It Wasn't Easy”, in honor of not only Mario Whitfield's cherished life, but to the rest of our Lorain residents who have been struggling to keep their heads up during these unpredictable times. May the rest of your days be filled with safety and happiness.
